H.M.K. Amen has come out for an evening event, something she normally wouldn't do during solstice. I asked her to make an exception because she is the perfect person to pour libation to open our second annual Central City Convening. That was three years ago. I am remembering that June evening when H.M.K. shared about remembering. She spoke from the perspective of community. Though she did talk about recalling experiences and recapturing the past, Hrimgalah went further. To re-member at the level of community is to express our shared capacity to create and create again by coming together, by forging the best of who are, by filling our blocks and neighborhoods with knowing and being known, by moving toward a shared vision. And so, we take with us the lessons and legacies of the past as we create the future.
